In 1994, a five-block section of Fremont St was closed to automobile traffic so a pedestrian walkway with a 90 foot tall, 1,400 foot long canopy could be built to attract people to downtown Las Vegas.  With 12.5 million LEDs and 208 speakers capable of 550,000 watts of sound used for nightly light and sound shows, it would become known as The Fremont Street Experience (a2zlasvegas.com)

While there were several photos to choose a winner from, the image that would win Twitpic of the Trip was never in question, from the moment I saw it. We are going to have a few 1^st on this one.  For the 1^st time in 360 Vegas history, the Twitpic of the week isn’t a photo taken by a person, it’s a collage of pictures from 8 people, Julie Moore aka @japluto09, Michael Movestro aka @VegasBrightSite, Del Reed aka @NeonVacation, Alastair Greenwood aka @Bluestorm2000, Shawn DeWitt aka @sdewitt70, Andrew, Corrington aka @agcorrington, Steven Christian aka @StevenGoPackGo, Myself and even thought he didn’t contribute a photo the collection, he’s the man who made it all possible, my brother Scott Roeben aka @VitalVegas.  Also for the first time, I’m not watermarking them with the winners twitter handles.  First of, you’ll all kind of infringing on my brand logo so you’re lucky you aren’t receiving a cease and desist from my lawyers but truthfully, because this one is for me.  There aren’t words to adequately describe what the picture makes me fell, so I won’t try.

360 Vegas Review: Jean George Steakhouse @Aria Summer 2014

Is there anything more rewarding that a great steak dinner?  Of course I can't speak for the whole world but there is something very American about steak. It seems to embody what it feels like to be successful.  Like a beer at the end of hard days work, steak is how you cap off a special occasion and steak makes an occasion special.

So you agree, steak is great; but have you ever had a steak in Vegas?  Vegas steaks make the exceptional ordinary and boring, actually disappointing.  We’ve actually described a steak as “good I wasn’t eating it in Vegas”.  Vegas offers steaks like you didn’t know it could taste in dining environments that actually somehow compliment the dining and elevate the experience.  If you can only do it once in your life, do your homework, pick wisely and treat yourself.

360 Vegas Reviews: Lemongrass @Aria Spring 2014

Thai food has a reputation for being some of the hottest cuisine on the planet, Asian food with a kick.  The concept has always intrigued but as with most new foods, the vast collection of things featured in their dishes intimidated. 

Enter Keren, Vegas, Aria and Lemongrass, the perfect storm to inspire food experimentation.  It’s also the only Thai restaurant on the Vegas strip so clearly the options are limited.  Prepare to have your senses stimulated as Thai food is an art form.  It’s dishes feature at least 3 of the 5 of taste senses; sour, sweet, salty, bitter and spicy, in each dish with a grand plan to visit them all making a harmonious finish.

Twitpic of the week

It’s like something out of a movie.  A place that is clearly a creation of Hollywood and couldn’t be a real place.  Add in a heavy dose of product placement all along the way and its incontrovertible.  But it is, or it was.  Lets address a few things.  In 1977, on the Vegas strip, @TonyIllia reminds us that the Caesars Palace marque was neon blue, like the crayon.  Flamingo was still sporting the 130 tall mushroom cloud sign, a sign in my top 3 of classic neon from the past.  Imperial Palace was still Flamingo Capri, Harrah’s hadn’t even become the showboat yet but Denny’s had already setup shop in pretty much the same place it resides today, in Casino Royale.  One of my favorite things about looking back at these old pictures is the neon.  The way it interacts with the pitch black sky is the only thing that rivals the beauty of the cosmos.
