E-331: Yodaed It

Random Vegas
When Vegas was still establishing itself as the entertainment capital of the world, periodically operators would page celebrities, even ones not actually at the property, just so patrons could hear their name inside the property. (Las Vegas: Behind the Tables)

@classiclasvegas reminds us of another time in Vegas.  I won’t say it was a better time but a more whimsical one.  The MGM Lion Entrance might be the pinnacle of the family friendly movement.  A movement that was not wrong but it became a distraction once it became the focus.  Never forget, Vegas is about having experiences you can’t have any place else.  Where the newest is typically the coolest which means a theme runs the danger of becoming dated.  It may have not been a better time, but its still a time lost and missed.

360 Origins: Alistair

Alistair was originally the co-host of 360 Vegas Reviews.  He's a proper English man, a snarky prick, possibly the most thoughtful person I've ever met, and one of my closest friends.  He's also the most traveled person I've ever met in my life, seeing more of the United States than 99% of the people that call it their country of origin.  During one of this visits to Vegas, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to record the origin story of the man who classes up 360 despite my natural tendency to directly oppose such measures.

E-330: Vegas Drank

Random Vegas
Famous Cheating – In July of 1968, it was discovered that the Pioneer club was using an incomplete deck of cards at a blackjack game.  Owners were fined $10k and allowed to reopen with slot machines only. (Las Vegas Behind the Tables part 2)

Oh exterior theming, how we love, and in some cases, miss thee.  I get why Imperial Palace needed remodeled; I think we can all agree on that.  Would it have been cooler if they kept the theme?  I submit the answer to almost always be yes.  Logically I’ve accepted and celebrate what they did to her.  But Harrah’s detheming from riverboat to mardi gras theme hardly requires the loss of the riverboat theme.  Oh well.  We have photography, shared this week by @las_when so we can fondly recall yesteryear while not being shackled to it when progress and evolution is required.
