E-317: One of those two statements is correct

Random Vegas
The signs you see in the center of Fremont East, the martini glass, Las Vegas Oldsmobile logo and the Silver Slipper are NOT restored signs.  That are all “inspired” by Vegas signs of yesteryear…and Silver Slipper is just a rip off of the restored sign out front of the Neon Museum.  They are originals created for Fremont East, installed in 2007 (vital Vegas)

There is something to be said about signage so large, like the 65 Thunderbird frontage shared by @_GrandPaD, it reminds one just how small we all are in the grand scheme of things.  Typically, massive signage is displayed at elevated heights, but when hotel casinos were really motel casinos, resorts simply weren’t as tall as they are today.  Taking inspiration from its neighbor across the street, the Stardust.  in May of 1965, the Thunderbird began renovating its exterior frontage into a 700-foot-long sign, the biggest sign in Vegas history at the time, 3 feet longer Stardust and featuring 12-foot-high letters.  However, the new signage came at the expense of the room views in the south wing because the sign was placed directly in front of the guest room windows; replacing a view of the strip with one of circuit boards, 20 miles of electric wire and the buzz of 15,000 volts per tube.  To address complaints, management installed blackout curtains.

Photography is a medium that has allowed mankind to capture the evolution of time unlike any form of documentation in history.  Writing is a medium that has a bias slant to it no matter how hard an author tries to remove any personal feelings on the matter.  Painting and sculpture are, by definition, an artist's interpretation of the subject matter.  But photography simply captures a moment in time and preserves it, allowing each observer to develop their own opinion.  This observer's opinion of this week's winner, brought to you by @TonyIllia, is Las Vegas is the greatest city in the recorded history of mankind.  Every major city evolves over time but none as radically as the Las Vegas Strip.  Look at this fuckin picture. I don't even know this place. Normally you can at least see a shadow of the modern cityscape in a photo from its past, but this version of north strip is unrecognizable.  It's almost easier to convince someone that this is a completely different place than you can that this is the Las Vegas strip of the 70s & 80s.  But it is; and thanks to photography, we have proof.

360 Vintage Vegas - The Thunderbird (PCP)

Patreon.com/360Vegas

The Thunderbird is a property I've never paid much attention to, for no particular reason.  I wasn't offended by it's Native American theme, that's not really my style.  That being said, I will say the theme was about as interesting to me as the cowboy motif at the El Rancho or the Last Frontier.  Being a child of technology, harkening back to a day when it didn't have anything isn't my idea of a vacation, it sounds like torture.  One of the most fascinating things about Las Vegas is itunique ability to take things I normally wouldn't find interesting and make them appealing.  The Thunderbird might be the perfect example of that phenomenon.

@NYNYVegas captured what has long been speculated but only now confirmed.  This is the point of view in my world.  This is how I keep an eye on Las Vegas, handing out judgment on what I deem is worthy enough information to be shared on our show, news I determine people need to know about regarding paradise in the desert.  A self-loathing deity of mathematical gambling, the scientific method and drunken debauchery.  Look in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, no…it’s 360 Vegas motherfuckers and be fore warned, what happens in Vegas ends up on this show.
