107 years ago, on Jan 13th, 1906, the Nevada Hotel opened in downtown Las Vegas on Fremont St.  It later changes it’s name and function to a hotel casino called the Golden Gate which still operates today. (Strictly slots)

This week’s winner is @valerialandivar’s picture of the strip, at sunrise, from the Rio.  This is such a beautifully sad picture, for me.  We’ve talked about the problems I have with staying off strip.  To me, It just feels like you aren’t in Vegas and the view taunts you with that fact.  You are so close to being on the strip but you aren’t.  It just sits in front of you, mocking.  This view honestly makes me sad but good art should evoke an emotion and that is what the picture does.
