The Holiday Motel, formerly located just north of the strip, near Stratosphere, was originally named the Holiday Inn when it opened in 1952.  In 1960, the Holiday Inn chain required them to change it.  As a part of the update, the signthey are most famous for having was erected. Twitpic of the week

The diamond of the desert, the Dunes, captured stunningly in black and white, shared by @TonyIllia. However black and white doesn’t do the legend justice, disguising the colorful brilliance on display. Clearly ahead of her time considering the surrounding landscape, this icon stands alone in my heart as the place I wish I could have seen with my own eyes.  Thanks photography for being the next best thing, even if its devoid of color.
