360 Vegas Reviews: Tender Steakhouse @Luxor Spring 2012

Tender Steakhouse is the perfect spot for a quiet glass of wine with friends. Step off the casino floor and into the bar and lounge, here you are able to sit at the bar or relax in one of the many comfy leather chairs, while still enjoying the action.

The restaurant, which is located through the lounge and hence away from the noise of the casino, offers an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. The lighting is dimmed down and the warm cherry and mahogany furniture play well against the leather and wood panelled walls.

This week’s winner goes to friend of the show @VegasPartyStops for a sweet picture of one of the most beautiful things you can see in Vegas, the Chandelier Bar @Cosmopolitan.  This is another one of those places that has candidates every week but what’s amazing about the Chandelier Bar is also what makes it so hard to photograph, it’s absolutely massive.  @VegasPartyStops did a great job of capturing it as best as you could from the angle this picture was taken from.

360 Vegas Reviews: Bally's Hotel & Casino Spring 2012

History:

Bally’s Hotel and Casino first opened in 1973 as the original MGM Grand, under the ownership of Kirk Kerkorian. It was the largest hotel in the world, costing a then staggering $106 million and would remain so until Steve Wynn opened the Mirage in the late 1980’s.

Much like the current MGM Grand, the property was then heavily themed with movie memorabilia as Kirk Kerkorian had a large financial interest in Metro Goldwyn Meyer. The hotel was the number one destination on the Las Vegas Strip and was a highly sought after property for celebrity headliners, such as the Carpenters, Barry Manilow and Joan Rivers, to name just a few.

In 1980, one of the restaurants in the property caught fire, which spread throughout the hotel killing 85 employees and guests. Much of the property was destroyed, Kirk Kerkorian quickly rebuilt in under 8 months. The fire was such a disaster that it caused massive fire safety reform across the globe.

In 1985, the property was sold to Bally Entertainment Corparaation for $594 million and then in 1995 Bally Entertainment was purchased by The Hilton chain. In a massive expansion, Hilton sub divided the company and its casino operations were managed by Caesars Entertainment. This was later sold to Harrah’s in 2005 and with a recent re branding, is now called Caesars

Hotel Specifications:

This week’s winner comes to us from @spalavra for a beautiful picture of Fremont St during the day, which previously I didn’t know was possible.  This appears to be taken just past Golden Gate and captures the Golden Goose, Vegas Vicky & Vic and everything east of them ending in sunlight.  I really like the way the light is dispersed in the picture with the Fremont St experience.  It’s a really unique and
lovely picture and I’m glad to be proven wrong that Fremont St can look nice during the day

This week’s winner goes to @Amber_Naleen for her picture of Vegas Vicky down on Fremont St.  It’s a really great picture, high quality of a Vegas staple since 1980.  She was originally known as Sassy Sally but when that property became Mermaids in 2001, she was renamed Vegas Vicky.  She’s a Vegas icon and we are thrilled to add her to our collection.

This week’s winner goes to friend of the show @neonvacation for a really cool picture of the Paris Balloon and all it’s faded glory.  This picture was taken during the day so you can’t miss what the sun has done to it.  I’m not sure how he got this picture because you can see the PH/Cosmopolitan walkway in the foreground and the Paris balloon looms large just behind it.  I assume some editing was done or a sweet zoom was used.  My favorite part is how this shot symbolically represents what Vegas does to you with it’s deceptive distances, larger than life attractions and how it washes the life out of you from the experience.
